In an older neighborhood I believe they run fiber optic to an access point within the neighborhood, then run copper wires from that access point. It slows it down a little but nothing worth mentioning. We got the u200 which includes NFL network and all the ESPNs. It's a great deal.

I had it prior to moving here. Compression was noticeable vs. broadcast HD. Service was... ok I guess. Typically up, but their gateway was flaky and we went through three before getting one that would stay alive more than 4-6 months. Replacement was a free service visit but it was inconvenient waiting around while the TV and internet were dead, besides whatever you could get with rabbit ears.

If anyone needs help getting UVERSE set up and wants to deal with someone locally, I work for AT&T and live in Mount Pleasant. Send me a PM and I can get you my contact info. I also have access to all promotions to get you a good deal

We did have a 3 day outage but that was a one-time wide spread issue. Before and after that we've had no problems. I think it had to do with either a virus in the system or potential hacking attempt.

We've had it about a year and a half. Never have had an outage, unlike when we had either Knology OR TWC. Thoroughly impressed with cable/internet service. We're in the Ladson area.
The only thing that annoyed us was the salesman who originally came to our door flat-out lied about the promotion, which we discovered about 2 months later. We called the national number and they did cut us a separate promotion for a couple extra months to make up the difference. Since then we did have another price hike *sigh*. But the fantastic service is bar none.

Just to update my prior post about outages..we are currently having yet another outage with AT&T Uverse. Looks like at least another 24 hr before we get service back. This is unacceptable. This is the 4th major outage we have had and it's time to go back to Direct TV!!

Cusscott are you saying that ATT is going to continue their roll out of UVERSE in Charleston? The CEO stated last year that they had stopped all further capital investment in UVERSE nation wide.
