Given the rapid increase in population the last ten years, my question is whether the public services in the Summerville area have kept pace. Are the roads sufficient and have they been properly maintained? Is there an adequate police presence? Are storm sewers up to date? How about trash removal and other services to residents? Public utilities? Anything else you feel is relevant?

There are 2 "parts" to Summerville...the city and the unincorporated (county) part. The county part has 2 parts....either you are in Summerville in Dorchester county or Berkely county. Confusing, huh? I can only speak for where we are (been here 2-1/2 years) in the Dorchester county part. You have a choice of trash removal providers or you can take your trash to the dump. Storm sewers are fine; all storm sewers in the entire Charleston area get FULL when we have torrential rain, but nothing major. The roads are being worked on as we speak in our area of Dorchester county. Still, many roads are 2-lane and not adequate for the influx of population. Public utilities like electric run fine although are priced way too high, IMHO.
