I don't have kids, so I don't know of any good daycares around, but there is a new one being built on Venning Road in Mt. P. The sign says it will be open in August.

What part of the area?

If Summerville look at Knightsville United Methodist Church for their preschool program, but it only runs during the school year, there are other daycare's that are more along the lines of baby sitters than a true learning environment like KUMC....

My grandson goes there, one of his other Grandparents is a teacher there, he is way ahead of most of the kids his age...

Look at the Churches in the area you are moving. We think the church is the best daycare, but many of them have waiting periods for almost 1 year! You should call ahead!

I happen not to be affiliated with any churches. Does that matter? My daughter used to go to the YMCA here and now goes to a daycare that my employer provides on site. They both have been good.

No, it does not matter! However, your child may be read a story from the bible or learn things about God, which I think is great!
I agree the YMCA is good, and some churches are better than others. I would avoid the typical daycare, with a large number of children and few staff members. That is sad. My wife would be better to tell you about this. I can ask her.

Not sure if the churches have full on daycares. I know many of them have pre-school programs but the hours offered are limited.

We have found Springview Academy to be a very good daycare. Years ago I taught in a church preschool that was only available September through May and it was strictly for enrichment. I find the policies and curriculum at Springview to be very similar and the staff is very caring and nurturing. They have a location in Summerville and one in Mt. Pleasant. Our grandson is thriving there!

If you are in the Army I'd look into the Child Development Center at the Air Force base.
