There is no question that Boeing wants to get a lower labor cost but even they know they cannot just up and move everything they have in WA (land, buildings, skilled work force, etc.) in one fell swoop. It would set their production back for many years.

It will take time for Boeing to ramp up in lower labor cost areas (SC as an example) but the hand writing is on the wall.

How many realize Boeing Corporate offices moved to Chicago some 10 years or so ago? The bean counters are easy to relocate. Not so the production facilities.

Headquartered in Chicago, Boeing employs more than 170,000 people across the United States and in 70 countries. This represents one of the most diverse, talented and innovative workforces anywhere. More than 140,000 of our people hold college degrees--including nearly 35,000 advanced degrees--in virtually every business and technical field from approximately 2,700 colleges and universities worldwide. Our enterprise also leverages the talents of hundreds of thousands more skilled people working for Boeing suppliers worldwide.

Corporate Offices:
100 North Riverside
Chicago, Illinois 60606

Yeah I think that was from earlier this year. My 5000+ number came second hand from execs via conversations.

Absolutely great news..... Back in April ..on the golf course ...from the horses mouth... when asked about future Boeing plans here... he responded thusly ... "I cant speak to specific plans, but as you are aware we just doubled our footprint adjacent to the existing facility... with no plan to become peach farmers. Now hit the ball"

Id say we just hit the ball... out of the park.

Not just that though, they are building the plane entirely here, unlike the others that we shared with Everett. Kind of makes me wonder how many people they expect to employee there.

Was there really any question that Boeing' intent was to get to a lower labor cost (as in no unions) area? If you did not realize/accept this, then you are doomed to fail Economics 101 no matter how many times you take the course.
