We are thinking about spending Thanksgiving on Folly Beach. I need suggestions on what's open on Thanksgiving/where to eat? I know we would like to do the Festival of Lights on James Island. Any other suggestions? We will be there 3 days (Thursday-Saturday). We usually come during the summer & spring season when there is tons to do there.
Thanks!

My family has been coming to Folly for the past few years for Thanksgiving. They're mostly from the Asheville area and Durham so it's a special treat for them to spend time at the beach. Mom is 87 and it's one of the highlights of her year. However we always fix dinner with everyone bringing more than necessary so we haven't tried going out to eat even for breakfast.
I've suggested visiting the gardens or some other attraction but once they're here, no one wants to leave the beach! Works for me and we're pretty close so we all just hang out, play bocci, cards, ride bikes on the beach, beer tastings and of course... eat. It's an idyllic mini vacation.

If we don't hit early cold weather, there might be some dolphin watching activities (boat tours and the like) that can wow people if they're not used to seeing such things.

Thanks for the advice!
We aren't staying on the beach. We have some free nights at Best Western so gonna take advantage of that.
We come to Folly every year & love it but have never been during Thanksgiving.
Going to check with Bowens Island Restaurant & Ser if they are open on Thanksgiving, who says it has to be traditional? Excited about oyster season!

May Bowen was my landlady up until Hugo. The restaurant was incredible before it burned down and it still is a good place with a great view. You could do worse than oysters on Thanksgiving!
