My husband just got a job in Mt. Pleasant. We will be coming down in mid-December to look at houses. We're in the 250-300k range and would like some input on where to look? We have 2 girls, ages 4 and 3 months.
Curious about West Ashley, Goose Creek, and Mt. Pleasant.
We don't really want an hour long commute which many say is what to expect from Summerville.
Also, may end up back in Ohio in a couple of years. So resale is important.

In that price range you can get into Mt. Pleasant. You may also want to look at Daniel Island or St Thomas Island. Nice planned communities.

I agree with Goosecreeker - if your husband will be working in Mt. Pleasant, I would look for a home in Mt. Pleasant so he doesn't have to fight the traffic (as badly). There are many nice subdivisions there for your price range.

There are plenty of Buckeyes in MTP.
Probably your best bet if there is a chance of relocating again.

Let us know what you want & we can set up a search for you.

There are "Buckeyes" everywhere in Charleston and surrounding areas. I've seen Ohio plates as far inland as Monck Corner. I'm surprised there is anyone left in Ohio. lol

There are no single family homes on the market on Daniel Island in the under $300,000 range although there are 1300 square foot condos in that price range. As Jim3310 stated, any Realtor can send you a list of homes that meet your parameters or you can search for them yourself on most Realtor web sites.

Is the area above 526 considered Daniel Island? I see houses (for example in the Peninsula subdivision) consistently listed as Daniel Island by agents.

If that is the case, then I think you can find single family homes on DI for under $300k.

The Peninsula subdivision to which I think you are referring is a DR Horton community in the Cainhoy section of Berkeley County. The residents are reported to go to Cainhoy Elementary and middle school which have scored quite low on the state "report cards." The Daniel Island community is near The Peninsula but in a different elementary and middle school district, separate amenities and a mixture of custom and higher end "tract homes."

I've seen a couple of homes in The Hamlets section of Crowfield Planation. They seem nice but it seems like there are alot for sale. Anything we should be wary of?

The Hamlets is VERY nice.
Worth the trip in my opinion.
