I am possibly looking to move to the Summerville area in the summer of '08. My daughter is a cheerleader for our local sports team as a part of the county Rec and Parks association. She is only 11 and her current team has no requirements in the way of try-outs. She is going to have a little adjusting to do anyway and want to ensure I can sign her up for a team without the burden of try-outs.
I cannot find any information to see if Dorchester has a similar rec and parks department. Does anyone know?
I don't live in Summerville, but I would be surprised if you didn't find a good place for her. Most communities here have those programs, and I would be shocked if Summerville didn't. You may want to check with the town of Summerville or check with someone at a local school to see if they can tell you where kids go for these things.
I'd check with this group. I know they have cheerleading instruction. I can only assume they'd have contact info for cheerleading groups, and teams in the Summerville area.
Sertoma offers cheerleading. You can contact them through Azalea Sertoma Club I'm pretty confident that they do not have try-outs.
