Thanks very much for the insights and information. Good public schools are critical for us, and we absolutely would not move to a neighborhood that did not have an excellent public school system. Our current school pyramid is incredibly strong and we would be unwilling to sacrifice our daughter's education as part of any relocation, which is part of what appeals to us about Mount Pleasant.

In response to comments regarding it not being worth it, based on our own direct experiences engaging with both large public and small private college prep schools I also believe strongly that there are real benefits to a private education, and all things being equal, by the high school level we do think that a private setting may be the better option. So, obviously our questions as part of a move do encompass not just the local school district but also the privates as well.

Ok, NP. Being a private school system grad and moving our children from the private school to public we've had no regrets. Different school systems, different issues. All I was pointing out was with a small amount of parental investment with your children, we've found (with experience) that the public option in MtP is as good as private (and in some cases better). But it's your dime and your child. Most certainly do what you feel is best.
