Went to Pages Okra Grill yesterday. I'm going to say what I know a lot of people are thinking but don't necessarily want to get flamed by the masses: POG is mediocre greasy spoon food and I'd just about rather spend my money at IHOP or even Cracker freaking Barrel for that sort of blandness.

I had Ashleigh's shrimp and grits yesterday. The shrimp were rubbery. The grit cakes were soggy. The sauce was oily. My wife had "strawberry shortcake" which was three layer angel food cake with a bit of strawberry filling in between with vanilla icing. So, in fact, not strawberry shortcake.

Last time I went I had the singularly worst hamburger I've had in Mt P, bar none. Boring, tasteless beef on a bunny bread roll.

I like the people there- Tony Page was a dear friend - but I'm not going back.

lol

I can understand it being mediocre, although the Hell Burger and Chicken Fried Chicken meet with my approval!

Zest Grill in Summerville is very good. They have a daily quiche that comes with a salad. Very nice light lunch - a different quiche every day. We've had several dishes there and not been disappointed with any if them. They are across the walkway from the Town Hall where Ladles used to be. You would not believe the transformation of the space - they've added a nice bar and have wine sampling on Wednesdays. Definitely worth checking out!

That's crazy. Boulevard diner looks like a dump inside and out. Only time I see cars there is for breakfast/brunch.

I like Boulevard and Paiges. Not looking for anything fancy and prices are reasonable.

I want to try Boulevard diner but I'm not sure about how it looks. Any advice what to order or just skip this place.

Definitely try anything you can. I just thought it was medicare diner food, which was surprising, since it's owned by the same group that owns the Long Point Grill, which is usually pretty good.
