King Street Grill in MtP. Horrible. Used to really love going there but it's been heading down hill and this trip will be our last. Spent all night on the can after eating there. Had to send their Charleston chicken back (both my wife and I) because it just didn't taste right.
I usually like King Street Grill. Last time we went no one would seat us. You feel like an idiot just standing there waiting and asked why it was taking so long. He told me someone called off and they didn't have enough waiters/waitresses. Seemed like a pretty lame excuse. We left and went somewhere else.
I hate sound like we're piling on King Street Grille, but we ate at the one in Freshfields last week and it was not up to our past experiences at other KSG locations. The service was kind of slow (it wasn't crowded by any stretch). The food was just OK. And it's getting expensive there.
Listen, the Sports Pub segment is getting crowded with other choices. If KSG is going to serve middling food, or leave the hostess station unattended......there are other places to fill that void. The Rutledge Cab Co on the west side has become a go-to for a good burger before a Riverdogs game. I also hear that new place downtown (Meeting on Market ?) is kicking butt.
Any void in the Sports Pub segment will be filled quickly.
First time -- years ago -- we went to a King Street Grille it was Freshfields. I wasn't expecting much and was pleased. We went back a couple of years later and weren't thrilled. I never liked the one downtown. With so many good choices why bother
Anyone eaten at Fish on King and have any thoughts on it?
Ive eaten at Fish a couple times a year for the last several years... its always good and sometimes great ...it falls into that category of good seafood plus restaurants downtown ...like the Ordinary.. the Darling ...and Hanks ...you wont be disappointed.
