I've tried researching but I can't find clear answers. I did get a SC retail licence ($50) and a Federal EIN number. My items will be sold mostly at fairs and online. I'd like to get into wholesale. I'm registered as a Sole Prop.

How do I go about offering products wholesale? Do I need another license? I keep seeing a wholesale license referenced on the SC site but I can't get any further than that.

I've contacted the SC tax revenue and they are about as clear as mud. If I sell online, I know I have to charge SC sales tax on those who reside in SC but how does that work with out-of-staters? I understand here in Berkeley County....state sales tax is 8% (6% state and 2% county). I loved how they responded to my email with "don't use this as legal advice". Well, I'm consulting them to do it the right way and I feel like they were not clear.

I'm trying to do things by the book and they don't make it easy. My sales are going to be small and it is mostly a hobby. I am a rule follower by nature so I'm a bit frustrated.

I have never had anything called a "wholesale license". Your EIN usually takes care of that.

I hope someone will correct that if wrong.
