Glenn McConnell is a beast in rush hour. You have W. Ashley High school traffic, then all the traffic to get onto 526. God forbid there's a wreck. Fogetadaboudit. Coming home is no picnic either. I lived in Grand Oaks for a while and worked downtown. 45 minutes was probably the average commute time.

my boyfriend and I used to l ive on Glenn Mac and he was attending MUSC for school and it was a nightmare in the morning. I'd recommend living in WA away from Bees ferry if possible

"Some" of you actually read the OP's question...while most of you skimmed over it and gave bad information.

The commute will be just fine for the OP. Traffic will not be of any concern & I'd guess it'll take them under 30 minutes to get to work from Bee's Ferry. That is if their assumption about work times are correct.

The OP MAY not always have the same work hours. Sue us for giving commute times for 7:30 vs 7:00. I still would not want to live off of Bees Ferry either way.

I'm not going to sue you...but I AM familiar with hospital shifts that run from 7a-7p. If that is the case, which the OP assumes it will be, the commute time will actually be 6:30a. That's a huge difference than 7:30a.

Seriously different.

Not to mention...getting "to" MUSC is only half the battle. Getting "in" MUSC can take an extra few minutes. The OP's commute may begin as early as 6:15 to allow for "walk time" once getting parked.

Oh the commute won't be bad at all during that time of day. I had to get a procedure done before the sun was up and it took me no time at all to get to downtown from where I lived on 17. Like you said, the biggest thing is parking. But I personally am not a fan of the widening project going on. Plus, those complexes seem further out from everything. I already felt isolated living at Woodfield.

I live off Bees Ferry and Main Rd, traffic really varies. I think the traffic is worse closer to Hwy 61, actually.

Leaving here at 6:30 and going down 17 isn't too bad, but it's not dead either. Once a week I meet up with some friends to run and I leave the house at 6:30 to meet em at 7. I make it on time, no problems... I would leave earlier if it was a job or something (they would just wait on me if I was late). We used to run earlier and before 6:30, 17 is pretty quick.

As far as commutes go... I think 17 > Glenn McConnell > Hwy 61.
