Honestly, the topic should be a sticky, but the fact that we can't edit posts later makes it pointless. I have long thought about compiling threads and discussions, links, etc about apartment complexes, maps, sites, etc. but the fact that we can't edit posts later means the front page that is the most important can't be edited or augmented. It's a shame, but I get it.
Well, we can only have 2 sticky's at the very top. If you look, Yac just made some changes. You can now create useful threads and send him the links to them so he can add them to a sticky.
This thread was getting pretty confusing with conversations crisscrossing throughout... I think it might work best if folks follow the guidelines in Yac's new sticky and simply post their questions in individual posts unless they're specifically joining another conversation.
I am hoping to move to Charleston by June of 2014. I used to work for an airline so have been there a couple of times and loved it, so we decided to move from Cincinnati...especially after this freezing winter.
I have found a place on James Island. The current tenants are moving hopefully by middle of May so we may move in by June 1. He is doing some updates and such....so exact date is not known..but June it will be.
I researched the schools, which are great!!! So we are very happy.
I now just have to find a job. I have worked in health insurance for last 6 years, and do follow up on claims for Cincinnati Children's Hospital here in Cincinnati currently. Typically, in Cincinnati, it is quite easy to locate a hospital needing this service. I've only found a couple in Charleston, but I will continue to look and hopefully something will come up. There are so many hospitals in Charleston, so I'm very optimistic.
I went down for a super quick weekend and looked and schools and a bunch of apartments and never thought about grocery stores. What are the big grocery chains in Charleston? Is there one on James Island? It may sound silly but I have 3 boys and I go to grocery store at least 3 times a week and it's such a benefit to have a nice one close by.
Thank you very much.

There are several on James Island, most notably Publix, on the corner of Harborview Road and Folly Roads. There's a Harris Teeter, Super Walmart, Trader Joe's, hmmm I'm missing a few... Help me out here!
Actually Trader Joe's is only in Mt Pleasant. On James Island we have Harris Teeter (4 of them!) Publix, Bilo, Food Lion and not far off James Island, in West Ashley we have EarthFare which is similar to Whole Foods. There is a Whole Foods in Mt Pleasant too.
That is excellent. Thank you. I will research Harris Teeter and Earthfare as I'm not familiar. I'm excited to see what they have to offer!
