The Freshfields Piggly Wiggly is now a Harris Teeter, so that's a big help for John's Island. But I haven't seen any action at the area by Food Lion where that sign has been for so long! Wish we could get an HT there.
To my knowledge, there's no hurry on that, and I'm not sure why. That sign announcing the "coming store" has been there for a couple of years at least. I wish they'd hurry up - I'd love to have it up!

Is the Harris Teeter that is to be built part of Maybank Station?
I do not know if the recent acquisition of Piggly Wiggly on Freshfields Drive, now Harris Teeter store 451, have affected plans for Maybank Station. Being some distance away with strong support in both locations, I doubt both locations in existence would interfere with each other. The acquisition helps Harris Teeter prevent competitors Bi-Lo and Publix from moving in quickly.
I am a Harris Teeter Convert. I've been shopping at Publix for years, and the Pig down the street from me just converted to a Teeter. Every bit as nice as Publix, maybe not as large or with as wide of aisles, but much less expensive and just a joy to shop at...
I asked the manager at the Harris Teeter on James Island about it. He said it would be going up after the Harris Teeter in Goose Creek, maybe in 2015. So slow....
They will be doing major renovations to the existing Harris Teeters that were once Pigs.
