Hello,

I am moving to Charleston (actually Mount Pleasant) in the Spring and don't intend on bringing my old desktop with me. I want to have a new computer built to my specs locally rather than order online from Dell for example. The selection at the big box stores like Best Buy doesn't work for me either.

Are there any good custom builders in the area, preferably a company that has a storefront and has been in business for a while?

Thanks in advance for your help.

There are some computer stores around that will custom build your rig. I can't recall them off-hand though as I build my own and very rarely visit them except for small parts like fans and heatsinks. I'll check and see.

Like I said, it's been awhile since I only visited them for parts. In fact, it was Computer Zone in West Ashley, but they've since gone out of business and closed up shop. There's probably a good absence of great custom computer stores locally, I guess it would depend on someone just finding the right clientèle.

You don't need to shop online at Dell for a good online custom computer site. We live in a bigger city (Atlanta) and my son (computer science student at Georgia Tech) would not go anywhere but online for his custom computer.
