The map shows what Charleston and the Lowcountry will look in 2100 with a 5-foot sea level rise. How do you think people will live? How will we react and adapt?
Not all of the Lowcountry would be underwater. There will be some areas of the peninsula above water even without a sea wall. There will be new waterways and much of the high ground on James Island would become a series of islands. The barrier islands like Folly will be almost entirely submerged. I know the city has already discussed building levees and sea walls around the historic peninsula. I don't think anything has been discussed for the other areas.
(And yes, I'm sure there will be people denying the science behind it).
The plot shows the interannual variation of monthly mean sea level and the 5-month running average. The average seasonal cycle and linear sea level trend have been removed. Interannual variation is caused by irregular fluctuations in coastal ocean temperatures, salinities, winds, atmospheric pressures, and ocean currents. The interannual variation for some stations is closely related to the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO).

Oh and your source says this about their research data:
Climate Central scientists publish peer-reviewed research on climate science; energy; impacts such as sea level rise; climate attribution and more. Our work is not confined to scientific journals. We investigate and synthesize weather and climate data and science to equip local communities and media with the tools they need to visualize the threat of climate change and the need for practical solutions.
And also this:
Climate Central's editorial staff operates a news service that is journalistically independent of the organization's research and communications programs. Through its website, its veteran journalists report daily on the facts about our changing climate and its impacts on the American public through news and feature stories, blogs, podcasts, and interactive graphics. Climate Central’s coverage has been featured nationally across digital, print and broadcast platforms.
I don't know about you but I won't be doing any reacting...I'll be dead
