Hey everyone!! So I'm living in an apartment in Mt P with husband and (toddler) son and our rent was just increased over 15%! We would really like to stay in Mt P as both work and childcare are in town as well, but we can't find much available that's within our budget - under 1,000/mo. (we like James Island too!) Does anyone know of anything available or have any suggestions?? Thanks in advance!!

Was this at an apt complex or in a house? I'm guessing it was a house somewhere, and the owners are trying to sell...
No, it's a smaller (Darby) apt complex. Can't believe they raised our rent so much (+$130)!! Been noticing lots of tenants moving or planning on it...not worth the money for a VERY basic apt.
I really don't want to bad mouth Riverwood cause we've loved it up until now...but kinda feel like we're being screwed. They will negotiate for a portion of a new signed lease but eventually will go up to the new price.
It's happening everywhere. I have a friend that lives in one of the complexes on Bowman and his rent just went from the mid 700 range up to the high 900. He looked around for a while but realized he'd have to leave Mt. Pleasant and whatever he saved on rent would get eaten up in gas because of the commute.
Someone else I know just move for different reasons and found her place by checking Craigslist obsessively (every hour on the hour for a week straight). She found a place in North Charleston within her budget that's perfect for her.

A lady that used to post on here lived in an apt on DI and it went up $500 a month after the first term!!! What the hades!????!
I don't think you're bad-mouthing them... you are stating facts and how you feel about that. So I guess if you can't find something you could always fall back on signing a new lease. I hope you find something! You might check out condo/townhouse rentals through charlestonrealestateguide.com
Good luck
