If you were going to visit Charleston for three days on a weekend, what would you consider a NOT MISS to see and do?

We are coming down in October to scout out the area for a possible move there. What should we see when we're there?

Thanks!

Downtown: Don't miss:
1. Carriage ride downtown
2. Shrimp and grits/ She-crab soup
3. Visit Battery Park
4. Walk/Shop down King St and City Market

Others:
Walk on one our beaches
Visit and tour a Plantation Home (Magnolia, Boone Hall)

Enjoy it, 3 days is enough to see a lot

That's a good list but it also depends on where your interests lie. It might not hurt to take an afternoon to tour Ft Sumter if you're a history buff. As a bonus you get a boat ride out in the harbor.

If the boat tour sounds good and history isn't as important, you might take a dolphin tour of some kind. October is one of the best months to watch dolphins. Captain Sam's Inlet down by Kiawah is a good place for it. If you do go that way, stop by the Angel Oak to see an incredible live oak tree:

Magnolia Plantation is a good spot if you're a birder.
