It was around $8k to move our 5 br house from NJ to MtP, with a month storage, and a full professional pack. No way would I ever do it myself, especially at that price...

The reason rental trucks cost so much for a North to South move is that people are moving south 5 to 1 ratio of going north. They have to pay someone to drive an empty truck back north and they discount the rental price for a South to North move.

In other words, you're $3000 quote is paying to move the empty truck back up north.
