And if I'm not mistaken..they predicted a much higher number of storms for last year and that never happened. Predictions are so hard to make with so many factors involved. It's best just to always be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.

I will agree hurricanes are unpredictable. The best course of action is to plan ahead, prepare and be ready to take action in the event a hurricane does threaten Atlantic coastal states. I hope there are no major storms this year.

Weather is so unpredictable. I remember last year one Saturday when Charleston had a 100% chance of severe thunderstorms and chance of tornadoes from TWC, NWS, Yahoo, Accu, all of them...yeah it didn't even rain. No joke. What makes it worse was it was it was still 100% that morning, then by the afternoon there was nothing but clouds and everyone was sly and suddenly dropped the chance to 0. I'm serious, I'll never forget that. What a fail.

I've noticed alot of other other times since where Charleston has atleast a 60-70% even 80% chance of storms or rain, and we get nothing. Some this month. They either dissipate or weaken before they hit the metro, or hit just below or just above. It's quite annoying actually. So if we can't get a thunderstorm coming from the west right, I'm not gonna bank on predictions on hurricanes from the oceans being 100% correct, though I hope they're as right as possible. I mean these people do do these things for a living, they're not just making random assumptions. There's data and research behind it.

Best to plan ahead and just always stay on alert though. I know August-October can be a little nerve-wracking for the region. Hugo is always on the back of everyones minds. Here's hoping for a quiet year though.

Yeah I hope we don't get any either. However in my next life I'm coming back as a weather man, because you really don't have to know what you're talking about.
Globale warming is a joke too. IMO
I remember years ago Mean Betsy Green @ channel 2 came on the 6pm weather and said there was "no" chance of rain. While I was watching her from West Ashley, it was pouring at my house.

I don't find that they are wrong that often. Y'all have weatherman issues.

Well I'll tell you something. Every time I've heard them say snow is on the way. It never gets here. And every time we've gotten snow they didn't say a word.

Glad that the predictions seem low key this season.

Coming from Charlotte, the most accurate weather person here is the fella Josh on Ch. 2 (NBC) in the morning. The weather and news here in general is very dated....method of delivery, set looks and technology used. The weather people here use "historical" data when giving the forecast. They very rarely deliver what is actually going on. They are off more than spot on.

I check Weather Channel, Yahoo Weather, and Accuweather, and local reports. For all the technology we have today, they're wrong quite a good bit. If not wrong, just off. Last weekend called for storms all throughout the evening and I didn't hear any thunder till after 9, and it was pretty quick storm at that.

Weather is just unpredictable. You have a nice sunny, breezy, clear day at 1pm, and by 6 there's lighting and hail and a tornado wider than the Atlanta Connector coming at ya. There's no weatherman issues, it's just nature doing what nature does.
