Jim3310-"What side of the dealership is he on?"
What do you mean by this? If you're asking what his job title currently is, then he's an Automotive Technician, but will also look into getting a job as a Service Advisor.
Since we won't be moving for a couple of months it's a little too early to contact anyone yet about jobs, but we will certainly keep in mind that you have contacts for us. That would definitely be helpful!

I meant service or sales. I know a service manager & a parts manager that he could talk to when/if you decide to come down. Does the Cosmetology have set start dates?
And are you considering other cosmetology institutions?

I am planning on attending the Charleston Cosmetology Institute (zip code 29420) and would be taking the Esthetics course. Classes begin 3 times a year (March, July and November) and lasts 5 months. We are planning on moving in April of this year so I would probably be looking to start in November, that way we've had some time to get settled. After doing research it seems to be a very good school that also teaches more than just the basics (most schools only teach you enough to pass the exam). The only other school in the area that teaches esthetics is the Miller-Motte Technical College but I would prefer to go to the cosmetology school.
He's on the service end. It would be nice to have some contacts but we don't want to contact anyone too early. We are looking to make a trip down to the area the second week in February so that we can get a feel for the area and decide if we want to move there. We are looking to be down there February 15-17 (we would get there in the evening on the 15 and leave in the morning on the 17).

Sounds like a good plan, but why not start in July?
Let us know if you need anything while you're down here.

Unfortunately, I think I'll have to wait until at least November due to financial reasons.
Can you recommend any apartments in that area (29420) that are safe and affordable? We want to be as close to my school as possible (I won't lie, I'm not the best with directions) but I know that N. Charleston has some problems with crime that we want to avoid. I don't mind a little bit of a drive but still don't want to get lost every day.

Here's the deal. There are three general car dealership areas. North Charleston, Summerville & West Ashley. Mount Pleasant is in the mix, but to a lesser degree.
It depends which dealership he decides on, as well as your school, to find the best area for you to live.
I can show you the rentals for that zip code, but you're wasting your time if he works someplace else.
I know it's tough & you want an idea of what you can get, but you need to visit first to get a feel for the area. If you can afford $1,000 per month, we can get you into someplace you would like.
