Hi. My husband and I have started the ground work to relocate to the Charleston area. We hope to do so by June 08.
My daughter is in first grade at a small, private christian school here. There are 15 students in her current class. Our yearly tuition is $3600. Their curriculum is A BEKA.
We are looking for a nice, friendly school in the Charleston area that will not break the bank.
Can anyone recommend a school or is there a school that you do not recommend?

Have you looked at Northside Christian Northside Baptist Church: Christian School ? My daughter went there for high school after my wife had homeschooled her and our other children her first eight years and enjoyed the school and excelled academically. It is located in North Charleston, about 15 minutes down I-26 from the Summerville exit. Another school that I have heard good things about is the Oaks Christian School, located right in Summerville. The Oaks Christian School Hope this helps!

The school she is in now is non-denominational. We do not prefer Catholic School.
We had picked up a phone book while driving through Summerville and I saw the listing for The Oaks Christian School. They do the A BEKA curriculum as well. I am glad that you have heard good reviews about it. It is hard to choose a school not knowing anyone in a community or much about it!!

I highly recommend Cathedral Academy. Tuition is higher than what you pay now, but it is an up and coming school. They have been around since '99 and my daughter has been there since '01. We LOVE IT! It is a nondenominational school, very heavily tied to the church. I, personally, would not recommend Northside, as they are ultra conservative and kinda stagnant. As for the Oaks, if I am not mistaken, they only offer a few grades and then you would have to transfer elsewhere. In the same area, Northwood Academy is a good school - my neighbor's kids go there.
