Is this the fill in the blank game? If so...my guess is, starts with "F" and ends with "G" ...

There are more things I like about Charleston than I "hate." Being a transplant from MA I do miss the fish (no cod) & crusty Italian bread. I don;'t mind hot August right now (compare it with the cold and snow up north).

My husband is from Charleston and we visit a few times a month from Columbia. The only thing I have ever disliked about Charleston is the Mark Clark. It is called the Mark Clark, people, not the Indy 500, although to watch the way people drive it, you would think otherwise. Even I-26 on a summer Sunday afternoon is not as bad as the expressway at 5:00 on any given week day.

I recently moved from Phoenix to Charleston. I LOVE it here. Believe me I will not bring the desert with me. The only problem I have had here is finding a great beach that is not so regulated. I am a nurse workinh 12 hour shifts all night so I need to be able to visit the beach at night. Is there any beach where I can sit in my beach chair with a cold beer and my shih tzu at my side without worry. I don't mind paying a fee or buying a season pass if it buys me a worry free day at the beach or night.

I think the only beach that allows bear is IOP and maybe Edisto. But I am not sure whether or not I would want to be out there late at night.

If people hate Charleston so much why are you living there? It is kind of idiotic to stay in a place you hate. As for people only talking about only talking about their jobs etc and nothing deeper. You will find real Southerners not transplants tend to not say much until you get to know them. In my experience transplants have told me things that to be honest I really didn't want to hear.
I live in Florida right now and am thinking of moving to Charleston. We get transplants here to, who constantly whine how things aren't done like they were back home. If you want them done they way back whereever, stay there. Moving to a new place means learning new things. I look forward to my move.
Things like how people drive there, well since Charleston gets a lot of tourists and transplants it doesn't mean they are natives. Charleston has history, architecture etc and life is too short to waste time on hating things. Move if you don't like it there.
