He went to Johnson & Wales Culinary Arts school back when they just started and soon after that landed a job with Commander's Palace in New Orleans, LA which was one of the five best gourmet restaurants in New Orleans at the time in the late 70's early 80's.

Now he's got restaurants all over the country and has put out several cookbooks and has a few TV shows. His becoming so famous and making cooking a "cool" thing to do has made Johnson & Wales famous and enabled them to expand with multiple campuses all over the country . One of them was here in Charleston until Bank of America bank-rolled the school and wooed them to move to Charlotte, NC to a brand new campus.

"I know Emeril and he's no Rachel Ray".

Emeril is a macho chef for the ladies ratings, not the guys!

before that they were all just called Bessingers... before that Piggy Park on hwy 17S... before that Joe's...
