Who are you calling a Yankee? I'll have you know I was southern bred and cornbread fed.

Evidently there is one lady who makes pickles who may have them at the Farmers' Market at Marion Square, they said, and they mentioned a few other places where I might find them....
I must say that South Carolinians don't know what they are missing and deli operators, I think, are doing a disservice to Charlestonians by evidently not serving them (so you can acquire a teast for them).
For those of you who've never had one, they are crunchy cucumbers marinated until they are juicy, tart, salty and a little garlicy and GREAT with most any sandwich. It was sad to learn from Whole Foods that there is not enough demand for them for them to bother carrying them.

Emily, you can probably order your favorite pickles through a website online. My dad loves Tony Packos pickles and peppers, which he got addicted to when we lived up in OH for 25 years, so now he orders them by the case online. People here may or may not like them....much like if someone moved from the South and went North, say to NJ, and wanted people up there to like and serve grits. It's all in what you were raised on and are used to...

And today, in your honor I am making that drive at rush hour again. I know it's inconsiderate for me to add one more car to the mix, but I will be carpooling for research. If you all see a little California plate with a blonde driving, be patient!

In my honor?? Hmmm....okkkkk....Patience is something that I don't have.

emily many here grow their own cucumbers and pickle them themselves, my family always has and have a wide variety of flavors from sweet or sour to hot n spicy
start your own small garden... until then try nathans deli on hwy61...
btw I ate at the Hog Doctor in Bonneau tonight, excellent BBQ there too...

MEKS!
Nathan's? Tried it three times. I will pass on that particular establishment until I see the sign change as often as the hispanic dance club four doors down. (BTW; Stopped to talk to the new owners today as they were putting up yet another new sign. There was a language barrier that we couldn't bridge...)
Oh, and pickles? I make my own. Still can't hold a candle to the pro. You'll find her at the Marion Square & MTP Farmer's Market.
SCBeaches: Save on the shipping off Tony's. She'll probably make them for you if you mention that 25% of the public (Ohio) wants them.

ahh sorry to hear Jim, it's been years since I've been in that place... it was actually run by Nathan the last time I was there, which tells you how long ago that was...
I guess 30 yrs ago or so we used to frequent that place often, a true jewish establishment back then with an excellent deli
everything must change in time I suppose
