My son and his family have lived in Mt Pleasant for the past 20 years. I love to visit him down there. I have always been impressed with how friendly his neighbors are and how warm his friendship relationships are. The folks he lives near seem to be genuinely nice. He was a "yankee" when he moved down and didnt have a dime. He worked hard and built up a business in the construction trades and has been successful. He has not found the people to be snobbish.

There are some very elegent neighborhoods and multimillion dollar homes and he isnt part of that set, but Mt Pleasant is a great place to live and a really great place to raise your kids. I know you won't get him away from there. You have nice neighborhoods, good schools, the islands and beaches, great places to go out to eat, and minutes away from the amenities of Charleston.

I think you can find "snobs" and "salt of the earth" everywhere. Just remember as the sign in the outhouse says, "You can't ---- higher than the hole."

The question was and I quote: Has anyone experienced attitude or snobbery in or from Mt Pleasant????

We merely gave our answers to such question. They didn't ask about anywhere else,
they specifically said Mount Pleasant. We didn't single it out and start picking on it. THEY ASKED and we gave HONEST opinions. You want people to lie and sugarcoat everything here? Obviously some of us have encountered such experiences there. Usually it is the ones that have been predisposed to this type of living environment for so long that they don't notice that it even exists around them.

Now I have a throbbing toothache and if I come across as nasty, then maybe I need a root canal!

Maybe she's assuming this because I compared Mt Pleasant to Boca??

Darn, I was really trying hard to be nice about Mt Pleasant and NOT mention the snobby attitudes! But I just read my reply in that other thread and I tried soo hard to be nice that I sounded like a pretentious snot.

My bad!

(And the answer to your question naturemom, is......yes. )

Birds of a feather......what we will be looking for when we move down there will be people similar to us. Younger professional families, who have nice homes, take care of their properties, raise their kids well, etc.
Although I'm not pregnant, nor do I have a toothache, I will ALSO decline to be politically correct and repeat a favorite city-data phrase of mine:

These comments perfectly encapsulate why we chose to relocate to Summerville instead of Mt Pleasant.

Have a nice day everyone!

thank you for the input. We have been looking more into Mt Pleasant....good looking homes, sounds like a great place to live. It doesn't get any worse than the snobs here, so I can handle a handful in Mt Pleasant. As far as outdoor activities go i.e. biking, boating...a good place for this?????
