Default New at posting

Perhaps this is the wrong place. Sorry. But could anyone tell me about the Manning(SC) High School library? I can't make head nor tail out of the state reports.

Thank you.

I hate to burst your bubble, but baggy pants (aka "bustin' a sag") are in Mt. Pleasant too. Walk down the halls of Wando High School, you'll see plenty.

If you haven't seen them in Mt. P., you must walk around with blinders on. I have seen them at the movie theater and even in the Belk's there.
Yes....even in Mt. Pleasant.

"Bustin' a sag" is everywhere. When I see a male with one I just want to go up behind them and yank their pants up. I'll be glad when that fad is gone.

USCJoe, we all know prices have skyrocketed since you bought your home in the 80's. The schools being overcrowded is one thing...the schools being overcrowded 2 years after being built shows that there's a definite problem with the way things work here in Mt P. I don't care how fast this town is growing someone should have estimated a little better. Classrooms in trailers being a norm? Also, I don't know if you're retired and don't have to drive daily on 17 but I think most people in the North end of Mt P would agree traffic is AWFUL and that accidents are a huge problem (esp Long Point and 17, daily accidents at the light) I'm glad you are happy here. A lot of people here try to sugarcoat things and that's fine. Rose colored glasses are a wonderful thing.
As for the saggy pants comment...You got that right SCBeaches, Wando has lots of sagging! LOL
So anyway, I stand by my original post and to all that disagree, stop being snobs, LOL!

I suspect that the someone who should have estimated the overcrowding in the Mt. Pleasant schools would be the Charleston County School District and those that appropriate the money to build additional schools to accommodate growth, not the town of Mt. Pleasant. I think every parent would prefer that their local schools not be overcrowded. However, every parent would also prefer that their children receive an excellent education regardless of whether or not their is overcrowding in their schools and Mt. Peasant has some of the highest rated schools in the Charleston area. Apparently the classroom trailers have not been an impediment to the students receiving an excellent education nor have the saggy pants kept most students from learning. As a Realtor, I drive on highway 17 on a daily basis 7 days a week and at all hours of the day. I agree that the traffic is very heavy in the North end of Mt. Pleasant during rush hour, but I think the same can be said about the traffic in most other areas of Charleston during the morning and afternoon rush hour. During non rush hour the traffic is not bad. I live only a few minutes from the intersection of Longpoint Rd and Highway 17 and am not aware that there are any more accidents there than at other heavily traveled intersections. In recent years ,the entire Charleston area has encountered heavier traffic and congestion during certain times of the day and I don't think anyone is denying that this is the case and have "sugarcoated things." The wonderful thing about this forum is that we have a place to express our opinions and provide food for thought for those considering relocating to the Charleston area. I think most readers can separate "the wheat from the chaff" when confronted with differences of opinion.

Caroline Kennedy picked up my glasses in when they fell from my purse. I saw Carrol O'Connor give up a cab to a pregnant woman.
Back in Santa Barbara, Wilt Chamberlain loved treating poor kids to ice cream when he was in town! I bought a raffle ticket from Bob Newhart, selling them for charity. I saw Merv Griffin get stuck playing doorman, he held they door for two ladies and more just kept coming. He smiled the whole time.
None of these people were snobby at all. Sometimes our perception of rich people is tainted with class envy ,,,, but there is a saying, Money makes you the person you really are..... so, if you are a jerk, it just exacerbates the shortcoming. Nice people have the choice to stay nice and usually do. It's just up to us poor people to give them a break and get to know them first.

I like your post. I am currently living in Southwest FL and want to relocate. I had originally chosen Columbia or Greenville, mainly because of the low home prices. However, I like being near the coast. Anyway, I've had some of the same experiences you have. Naples just had its second annual wine tasting event ($7,000 a couple) and combined with last year's donations, raised $30 million for needy children, making it one of the most successful charity events in the country. Money isn't only for buying fancy homes and cars.

There is a townhome in Charleston listed on the MLS in Oak Bluff. It looks lovely and is in my price range. ($150,000) Anyone have information on this community? Zip Code is 29406. My main concern is living in a very quiet area where I don't need to worry about crime.
