I list & sell in Oak Bluff. Wondering how you landed on that one. It's easily one of my favorite townhome areas in that location. It depends which floorplan you want & where it is, exactly, in the development.
There are actually 16 for sale at this time. I'm assuming you're looking at a 3 bed/2 1/2 bath, maybe an end unit?
The road that goes by the back of some of the units is the only draw back. You need to know the scoop first.
Having said that, why that specific area in all of Charleston?

None of these people were snobby at all. Sometimes our perception of rich people is tainted with class envy ,,,, but there is a saying, Money makes you the person you really are..... so, if you are a jerk, it just exacerbates the shortcoming. Nice people have the choice to stay nice and usually do. It's just up to us poor people to give them a break and get to know them first.

Amen, GREAT JOB, I AGREE!!!!Some of the Nicest people I know are worth 100's of millions of dollars, Some of the most mean and nasty people I know have no money at all!!! There is no relationship with money and nice.
Also most of those that are "Snobs" really do not have as much money as they want you to think that they have!
If you truly have money , then Life is to Short to bother with things like caring what people think, There is a confidence that comes with wealth and power that is sometimes mistaken for other things though!

There is a townhome in Charleston listed on the MLS in Oak Bluff. It looks lovely and is in my price range. ($150,000) Anyone have information on this community? Zip Code is 29406. My main concern is living in a very quiet area where I don't need to worry about crime.

Oak Bluff is a nice townhome community built by Portrait Homes 4-5 years ago. It is quiet and (as far as I know) safe. I had friends who lived there. The location is very central, and accessible to I-26, the airport and great shopping!

As a native, I can say we always laughed at Mt. Prententious, Mt. Perfect, I could go on... Mount Pleasant has traditionally been the notable, larger suburban area of Charleston and a top destination for those who move here. Since I was raised between downtown and West Ashley, I suppose there was always a tinge of jealousy for not living on that side of the water- lol-. However, Mt. Pleasant is a great town for raising a family or just enjoying a laid back lifestyle those that are financially secure-i.e., gainfully employed, retired etc. The area has grown so much over the years and very accessible to all this area has to offer. The traffic can be heavy, but the same could be said about the entire area, because our roads are in dire need of repair, but I digress.. My father happens to live in Mt.P and I don't find any of his friends/ neighbors or anyone I encountered while in that area to be "snobs". That sort of crowd can be found anywhere-from the slums to the mansions. So yes there are snobs in Mt.P, but they are everywhere. Anyone can find a reason to lapse into delusions of grandeur and put themselves above the next person, the trick is if one pays it any mind..

We are planning to move probably to Charleston next year time frame, can you tell me about North Charleston/Summerville, I am not sure I want to move to Mt. Pleasant but my reasons are more funny than hanging out with what appears to be upper classmen, by the way snobbing people can only bother you if you allow it, shallow people dig their own holes by themselves. I am definitely interesting in a good school district but we are planning on putting our son in a private school I just want a great family neighborhood that is affordable.

North Charleston/Summerville has some very nice areas. Be careful with the North Charleston side of that slash and stay closer to Summerville.

OH! DEAR ME!!!!
On one hand, I am utterly shocked by this entire debate! I had to register, just to respond...
I'm a native, by birth, heritage and culture; although I have not been a resident for many years, home to me will always be "Charleston"- (City proper and ALL the outlying areas with no designation for which side of the river or proximity to hwy.17). Charleston is has always been known-World Wide-for her graciousness, well mannered residents, generosity of spirit and unity-- not to mention that she may very well be the most beautiful city on earth or anyplace else in our vast universe...so PLEASE PEOPLE!>> "Old familys/new familys. Old money/new money. Poor/well off. Black/white. Snobs/rednecks. Cultured/heathen. Natives/visitors." All of these things are part of Charleston and every other city in America, it's not going to change!! A true Charlestonian would never compromise their dignity or be so ill mannered as to have such a distasteful discussion in an open-public-forum.
I happened to stumble onto this site because I was trying to remove a bitter pill I had to swallow about Charleston: "a few weeks ago a dear friend was re-united with an old school chum, they had not seen each other in years; at dinner one evening I discovered the gentleman was temporarily in Charleston for work purposes, I was eager to hear about my hometown- you cannot imagine my surprise when, both he and his new fiance` proceeded to describe how unpleasant, argumentive and arrogant ALL Charlestonians were!! - from servers at McDonalds to...(well I just don't remember all the places they mentioned as I was so near having a cardiac incident I had some difficulty absorbing anything!)". I could not believe the things I heard! I searched for information and decided 'what better place than a city forum'...I am so disappointed!

Just read all the info from the last time I was here. I have been to Charleston many times personally I have never encountered snobby people but again I think I am pretty secure after all I am a Marine wife ha ha. I really just need to know are the schools in Mt. Pleasant more like a jail or loving and caring. Where I live I chose a academically less (not by much) over a higher rated school, I interviewed both but wanted the more caring enviorment. Since that many parents have moved their child(ren) from the higher rated school for the same reasons. There is also a good possiblity he will go to a Christian school but I still would like a great family neighborhood. What will Mt. Pleasant offer versus Summerville area, I think the traffic is hetic both places but I am leary of the big bridge ha ha. By the way, my son has thrived at this school coming from a small private school, I couldn't be happier.
