12-year-old treated Tuesday for minor shark bite at Isle of Palms County Park - Post and Courier

A 12-year-old boy visiting the area on vacation was bitten by a shark Tuesday while swimming at Isle of Palms County Park — at least the third swimmer in South Carolina to be injured by a bite so far this year.

In South Carolina, a vacationer at Hunting Island State Park was bitten Friday and a man swimming off Sullivan’s Island also was bitten in May. Neither lost limbs.

On average, 5 people are killed every year by shark attacks. More people are killed by cows every year. Cows!

I was in the water off Sullivan's this past weekend for a good part of the afternoon and I walked out with all my limbs and digits. There was a good bit of people in the water all day as well.
