Tolls... yech. I hope that's not something we follow suit on. The tolls never go away and the roads still look like crap due to fund mismanagement.

Excellent, I also would gladly pay a toll to go to and from on the completion of 526! Let's go, everybody agree a simple toll would work and the idiots here in Charleston would finally get building since they say nobody has the money and they can't just start building it with half the money available! Set up the tolls!!
Tolls isnt going to stop people from brining up how marshlands are affected, and complaining about truck noises in their backyard.

Take it from someone from the northeast... Once you institute tolls, they don't go away, and they don't pay for highways.

Your wrong, I lived in Tidewater , Va (Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Va) Southeastern Va.
They had tolls when I grew up, and the toll road going to the beach is now without a toll. They took it away years ago. There is a toll on a bridge tunnel now going into Norfolk and I don't mind paying it when I go visit. The roads are smooth, clean, and many times better than any of the roads I drive on here in the low country.

Theres two toll roads in SC - I-185 in Greenville and the Cross Island Parkway in Hilton Head. Both roads have been payed for, but the tolls still remain. My bet is if tolls are implemented (if 526 even comes to compromise), theyll be here to stay.

I've traveled all over the NE for business and the vast majority of toll roads have been so for decades and are more often than not in a state of needing repairs.

I have been on the toll road Cross Island Pkwy to Hilton Head. I still have witnessed tolls lifted in my life. Look how nice the Cross Island Pkwy is, because of all the money from the toll. That is a very nice Pkwy, unlike most of our roads in Charleston.

No fan of tolls, but they don't cause traffic nightmares here in Richmond.

I'd rather not tolls either, but if this is how we get I-526 completed, DO IT.
I rememer a toll bridge in Jacksonville, Fla. that had it's toll booth removed and they also had a booth right at the end of town on I-95 that was removed. Traffic back up was not a problem, nor was the condition of the road a problem.
Complaining and bitching is just running the cost up the longer we wait, not to mention how much extra gas we all are spending on gas to take the long way around on the streets.
