Our only dog/skunk encounter ended up with a killed skunk (by the dog), a trip to the animal hospital (who didn't want to see us because of the smell), rabies shots for my husband & myself (who made us shower & change before they would see us) & a nauseating smell in our house & on the dog when she got wet for a good month. Hope to not have a repeat performance of that night....

We've had our share of bad dog/skunk nights, but you definitely win the prize.

This is funny because my daughter was able to experience a run over skunk for the first time when we went back to visit Maine. I haven't seen any here...not even in the Charlotte, NC area. We've lived in the Carolinas for 11 years.

I think opossums are to the south as what skunks are to the north.
