I have searched this forum for info, but haven't really been successful in finding answers to my questions so I thought I'd post my own.

I am considering relocating to the Charleston area with my kids. One of my sons (age 11) has some learning disabilities and is also on the spectrum for autism (fairly high functioning.) In looking at the school district most recommended, Dorchester 2 seems to be the best candidate for us.

Does anyone here have experience with the special ed services offered by Dorchester 2? Or does anyone have great things to say with regard to special ed services at another school district?

I would also appreciate info on your experience with getting ABA therapy or other autism support services in the area.

Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

My experiences have been great! My daughter has a 504 plan and I've never once had to fight to get her what she needs. We are in DD2.

What insurance do you have for ABA Therapy?
I can tell you that Berkeley County School district's SpEd director learned about ABA while getting her doctorate. She was attending classes with a fellow BCBA and as a result got the district to contract with her company to work on putting ABA in the elementary classrooms.
I can give you a little bit more info on the area for ABA but there isn't a bunch here unfortunately.
