We will be visiting Charleston with my 2 1/2 y/o grandson for the day. I'd like to take him to a playground for a little break where he can run around and burn off some energy. As much as the adults are looking forward to some time in the market, I don't think he will be as happy!! We are 2 hours away, so just coming in for the day. Also, any advice on an easy lunch place is appreciated. I heard Vickerys is good in Mt Pleasant. Any others are appreciated. Thanks!

If you're going to Vickery's, why not go to the beach. Plenty of space for a young one to burn energy.

If you go to Vickery's in Mt Pleasant for lunch there is a great playground under the Ravenel Bridge at the Mount Pleasant Pier. My grandson loves it there.

Waterfront Park in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. The playground is in the shade. You also can take a walk/run/skip and jump down the pier....and there are bench swings to enjoy along the pier. It is a great place.

Just a short (and beautiful) walk from the Market on East Bay Street is the Hazel Parker playground. It is a nice little park. There are tons of places at the Market to choose from, also kid-friendly.

I agree, the MP Pier is great if you're going to Shem Creek. If you narrow down where you're going, we could probably offer more advise. It's a large area.

The one down town is good too. I just suggested the Mt. Pleasant one because it is closer to Shem Creek but while the adults are at the market, you could take him to the playground called Hazel Parker Playground.....http://www.charleston-sc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/365
