Not everyone is savvy about how these things work. There's people who still fall for the millions of dollars that prince so and so from Nigeria has waiting for them. Imagine an older couple buying their retirement home here in Charleston. Perhaps it's the biggest financial transaction of their lives and they're wanting to do everything just as the attorney says. They get the emails that look like they're from the attorney's office and the attorney is saying the bank is waiting for the money, send it now! Plenty of people would fall for that. It's sickening to imagine an elderly couple being robbed of their life savings through something like this but apparently it's happening.
