I got used to it when I lived in Washington. Tacoma has a paper mill, and when it's active, it's known locally as the "Aroma of Tacoma".

Because they're so far apart. No paper mill smell could possibly penetrate North Charleston's atmospheric protection bubbl nth at guards against sea breezes.

I noticed the smell when I first moved there in 2005 but I think by the time I left, I had become acclimated to it.
