About a month ago, I had an opportunity present itself to me in the Charleston Area. After doing my research, I decided to decline the opportunity. I still would like to move to the Charleston area asap though. I have family in Mt. Pleasant and they absolutely love it there (what's not to love).

Finding a decent opportunity with a company in the area is quite tough. I don't need to make the same amount in terms of salary as I do here in CT, but I wont be able to take too much of a pay cut. I started with a company when I was in High School, and I worked my way up, and now 12 years later, I have a good career, and a very well paying job. After having my kids, I realized money is not everything. I receive a good salary, but I am never home. I'm sick of the rat race here and I need a change.

My career has been in the manufacturing industry (QA Manager). I am looking for a change, so I don't necessarily have to work in the manufacturing industry. I just need a position that makes decent money, but also, a company that has growth opportunities. Given an opportunity, I know can quickly prove that I am a vital asset to any company. I am extremely confident in my abilities and I know I'm capable of doing anything. I'm a very quick learner.

That being said, I would like to know if anyone knows of any places that I can look into in terms of employment. Thank you all for any help / insight.

Boeing, DuPont, Mead Wesvaco come to mind.

Keep in mind, Charleston pay is much different that CT. But then you get "Charleston" - beautiful places and smiling faces.....where have I heard that before? Hmmmmm . And, we truly do have both!

Charleston pays less, but COL is probably lower. As mentioned above, Boeing, DuPont, Volvo, Bosch, Wabco, or even the paper mill. Plenty of opportunities, not sure about the stability and security though. And yes, money is important, but work/life balance and being there for your family is more important.
