One other idea would be to beef up Charlestons water taxi service and include an exclusive water taxi that can take cruisers over fresh off the boat so they can check out Yorktown, PP, Shem Creek, Pitt Street Bridge, Sullivans, Market at Oakland (), etc. Maybe Mt P cofc can get some deals with Chas and market it all together.

Old MtP money would have a tizzy.

Who's gonna pay the tab for this multi-million dollar project and is Dana Beach and the CCL going to approve it?

Probably no one. It's only a pipe dream now, but can you think of another place to put it in MtP?

Default Santos

"said the councilman, who works as a port manager with Inchcape Shipping Services."

Is the writer implying that Santos' employer might actually influence his position on town council when it comes to a port-related industry?

Good catch. I must admit to having only read previous posts and not the actual article.

1. Sounds like an horrendous conflict.

2. Doesn't sound like a pier or terminal would be needed.

You can always tender in like most ports do.

Remember the only thing porting in MtP would be the tenders, not the ship itself. We've been in some small excursion places where the tender drop off location wasn't more than a pier. As far as Key West shops... That's a matter of zoning.

Then I'd have to ask, why not just keep using the Charleston pier?

Because they're to busy pitching a fit over there and the town feels it has enough to offer to make it a destination itself. Sounds a lot like if you don't want it Charleston, we'll take some of that action over here.

I would be shocked if they didn't bring the actual boat into port. We can clearly handle the size/depth which is usually the issue when they ferry to and from a boat anchored off shore. If Charleston continues to pitch fits I'm sure North Charleston would take them in a heartbeat. I'd be rather surprised if Mt Pleasant wanted them but its not a farfetched idea to port a boat there.
