I'd give close-in West Ashley a look. We are one of the more liberal enclaves in the area. Parts of James Island (and most of Folly Beach) can also be pretty crunchy! In my experiences Mt Pleasant is much more Republican leaning but not necessarily as conservative as people always assume.
And no area locally is uniformly liberal. I've also known plenty of people happily living in 'enemy' territory. There are enough people with a live and let live attitude to make that feasible.
Schools are pretty much by personal preference. Mt Pleasant has uniformly strong schools, James Island has mostly strong schools and other areas you have to look on an school by school basis. If you are going to use private that will open up pretty much the whole area but even some of the most expensive areas have bad schools.
I'm fine with churches around, I obviously know that there are a lot. I'd just like some similar minded people, because I know it will be a change coming from MA if we do move.
I didn't mean to offend.
I don't think you even remotely offended anyone. Just having fun.

Also, don't buy near the landfill in West Ashley as it smells. I was in Grand Oaks for the last 7 months and 30% of the time it was nasty smelling.
That's interesting..I've lived in Grand Oaks for over 6 years and never once smelled the landfill.
