a good spot for me would be...
Hello all you beautiful people of SC. I am currently residing in Dallas, TX and am looking to relocate to Charleston, SC by 2009. I was there years ago and loved it and said I would eventually venture back that way someday. Well, the time has come. However, it was so long ago I barely remember a thing about where the top spots are. I am a 33 yr old single woman who is finishing her BS Psych degree. I am also a Massage Therapist and would be looking for a good spa to work at. I want to move to an area that is close to the beach but could also commute to the spa and to a good Christian College to finish my masters in Psych. I love the outdoors... running, biking, hiking, walking and of course shopping. I can't wait to get back to a beach with southern hospitality charm and leave this pretentious city. I really enjoy the beauty of God's nature and miss the four seasons. I could use some advice on great spas, masters schools, and close to beach apartments that allows cats that won't cost me a fortune. I hope I'm not asking too much...just excited and want to make the right choice. Would Charleston, Myrtle Beach, or Greenville be a better spot for me? Also, coming down this summer to check things out...where would be a good place to stay to get the feel for Charleston and Myrtle Beach? Thank you...thank you...thank you

need a plan
Seriously? No one has any advice for me? Can a Realtor point me in a direction that would be an ideal spot for me? Spas, college, beach, great area all within a good distance...I am a single female so I don't need a family neighborhood.

The realtors will give you good advise but if you want mine:
Get ya a lounge chair, some sun screen, a Big Ole Martini and camp out @ Pawleys Island. That's about the midpoint between MB & CHS...

OK, I'm in.
Here's the part I was having trouble with.
Wanted: Apartment; close to Beach, but not too expensive, must allow pets. Need Spa for Masseuse job, with four seasons, near a Christian College that has a Masters program for Psych.
So, which three can you do without? hint; I would start with the fourth season.

Well, if you want to be near the beach, rule out Greenville. Perhaps an apartment in the vacinity of Charleston Southern University would be a good location for you....within 30 minutes from the beach and less expensive than apts. in Charleston.
Good luck!

That was funny Jim...well three isn't so bad ...My Mom lives in WV so I can visit her for snow. I guess I just want to know where a good middle location to everything would be that is fun. Thanks for the tip on the university. Yes, being close to the beach is a must and a welcome change. I would imagine there are a great deal of spas close to the beach so that would be perfect. Any tips on where I could stay in June to get a feel for Charleston? Should I go to a resort or hotel? Any suggestions? What are the nicer beaches? I cannot stand cigarette smoke, but I will tolerate it if I have to for like a minute. Thanks again...

Ahhh, now we are getting closer to your real desires.
I was showing property today to a couple from Kentucky and they have snow falling. They were a bit dismayed at first, considering who they left behind, but have extended their trip to here two days because they won't miss the snow that much!
To your questions;
The beaches here have vastly different feels to them.
Tell us more about yourself & we can match the beach.
Basically, I think it comes down to three choices on the beaches:
Dolce & Gabbana vs Laid Back Surf vs Family.
It can be tough to place yourself into a catagory, but trust me, this will work if you can choose one.
Next, tell us how much you can afford, per night on your visit.
By the time you visit, we will have you covered.

What about a job at the Sanctuary on Kiawah Island which is one of America's most famous spa destinations? That is also right on the beach. Also I think in Dallas you have more coler weather and have closer to 4 seasons than Charleston, SC does. Remember, this is the Palmetto state. Palm trees are abundant and not frequently found in areas that have real winters. If you look at a map, we are much father south than Dallas. The weather here is closer to that of San Antonio. So if you want four seasons, perhaps look in Northern coastal NC or VA.
