You're welcome. If the salaries I found online are accurate, it looks as if electric utility companies in NC/SC pay somewhere between 62K/yr (lineman) to 90K+ (engineer) although I'm sure there are both lower and higher paying positions that I just didn't find advertised. If at the low end, I don't think Mt. Pleasant would be realistic. Areas around Myrtle Beach or Wilmington NC would allow you to live the 10 miles from the beach, find a house within your budget, and also find a school (from that list) with a lacrosse team.

I suggest you come and explore the areas you might be interested in.

You've gotten a lot of good help on this thread (BSJSAS, you do killer research!) and I'd say Mt Pleasant should be your main focus in the Charleston area for the HS Lacrosse team. Daniel Island/Bishop England HS will be out of your budget but yes, you can find decent houses in Mt Pleasant (Wando HS) within your budget range depending on what you're looking for in the way of a house. There are 26 single family 3+bdrm/2ba 2000+sqft houses listed at $400,000 or less in Mt Pleasant right now.

The economy here is as good or better than most places in the country with the unemployment rate somewhere around 4.5% but you might find wages to be lower than you're used to. That depends partly on where you're coming from as does whether the cost of living seems high or not. What position will your husband be looking for within a utility company?

Thank you for your response. My husband will be looking for a Senior Design Technician position or a Resource Electrical Scheduler position. I'm not sure if the salaries are the same there or if he could even get a position with an electric company.

Nc seems more Lacrosse oriented...I'm just guessing from your name your kids might be heading that way. I have a son, LAX, at Wake Forest. Another boy, Rugby, at The Citadel. And another who just graduated from Washington and Lee,LAX

LAX camps, coaching and recruiting is huge in the Chapel Hill area.

It's not my field but maybe someone else can chime in on job chances. I suspect the job will be the deciding factor in which LAX friendly area you choose. Charleston is very nice but so is the Chapel Hilll area.
