Hi Anarion3 -

English as a second language can be a challenge so I appreciate your efforts. It's not clear if you have even visited the US or South Carolina specifically. As an International, I would assume that having a "community" of French citizens might be comforting to you. Of the three locations that you mentioned, Charleston is the only area where I think you might be comfortable. If you want to consider non-coastal regions, Greenville SC has a nice community of French people due to the Michelin plant. It's a great area with lakes and mountains in close proximity. Hope that provides you with a couple of good places to begin your search. Good luck...

Anarion3, I think Tinabean was referring to the Michelin Tire headquarters and factory in Greenville.

Charleston is likely to have the most "lowcountry personality" of the areas you mentioned. I think I understand that to be what you're interested in. It certainly isn't too rural around Charleston but being close in to the downtown area will usually be more expensive. Not sure how much budget is a factor for you.
