I have never had one here in Summerville, either. Quarterly pest control, lots of frogs and lizards, house on slab instead of crawlspace are what I think keeps them away.

You will get used to them. It took me a while, but now I just hairspray them and beat them until they are dead. I don't go running screaming anymore. They will just randomly come in every now and then. You shouldn't see them too much, especially since your place is sprayed regularly. I have seen them flatten out and go under the door, so they can get into small spaces.

Hilarious. I do that too. I think I need a stronger hold hairspray though. Some of my roaches are walking around with a stiff hairdo. When I spray them I want them stiff on their backs so I can swat them dead.

Search for Advion Cockroach Gel Bait. It comes in a syringe so it's easy to conceal in cracks, crevices, under toilets, etc. Works like a charm.

Not to freak you out even more but they can hold their breath under water for 30 minutes which is how they manage to come in through pipes and drains. When I first moved in here (Summerville), the only place I saw any was the bathroom sink. Couldn't figure out where they were coming from so I started researching. I found a small dose of Drano down the drain will keep them at bay for a while.

Oh, and don't kill those praying mantis when you find them inside. All they do is eat bugs all day - they are one of the good guys. And they are quite friendly. I have a baby one around that likes to sit on my shoulder out back when I'm watching a baseball game. He seems fascinated by it. LOL

They also love the taste of transplants who can't even spell y'all correctly.

Oh, a palmetto bug is not a cockroach. Those are brown. Palmetto bugs are reddish. Either can get inside your home. It's normal.

Same with lizards. Lizards will eat every last one
