Default Not too old, not too new...

We are visiting the Charleston area next month for one day only. We are interested in moving to Dorchester county this summer. We have visited before and love the area. We want to make the most of our one day to look at neighborhoods. We would like a neighborhood that is established and has TREES but not so old that the homes are all out dated. We do not want something so new that the homes are cookie cutter and on top of each other (we have that now). We have 4 kids and would like a 3-4 br home for 250,000-375,000 although we may rent for a year first to get our bearings. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

One day? Get a Realtor to bring you around, by the time you get here they should have a VERY good idea of what to show you. This Dorchester (II I'm assuming) area is pretty spread out.
I came up with 15 that were 4 bedromm minimum, 1/2 acre or more, wooded.

Winterseat
Legend Oaks Plantation
Ashborough East
Orchid Hill

Jim is right, you would likely frustrate yourself without a realtor, the neighborhoods he mentioned are worth a look, but you can find more.

It could be helpful to do somelooking on line prior to your visit, forward your selections with comments to a realtor and correspond back a forth as needed so an efficient schedule can be arranged using the time you have.

You could google Summerville Realtor and find plenty from which to choose, interview by phone if you like and or insist on a no-obligation tour...

Best of luck to you--we have never regretted our choice to relocate here.

Of course, I echo the above sentiments regarding connecting with a Real Estate Agent who can help you zero in and look in the right areas. Their expertise on the neighborhoods, area, schools for your children, pricing of houses and current market will be invaluable to you.
A few other areas you may want to investigate are Pine Forest Country Club, Ashborough, Ashborough East, or the downtown Summerville area.
