Publix #846, Daniel Island Town Center, 162 Seven Farms Drive, Suite 100, Charleston, South Carolina 29492-7595
Publix #846's expansion and renovation plans go before the City of Charleston's Design Review Board on Monday, 16 October. (Publix #846 will be agenda item #8.)
Publix #846 will expand toward Island Farm Drive. The delicatessen, bakery, produce, floral, meat, and seafood departments will relocate into the expanded area. The existing vestibule, delicatessen, and bakery will be the location of the pharmacy.
I'm not sure this really matters, but Publix, I don't think owns any of their locations, so there is no way Publix could buy a lot next door.
I have a working relationship with Phillips Edison.I think they might own the largest number of Publix stores.
Right now all simular CRE companies are under pressure from the Amazon purchase of Whole Foods. The market is trying to figure out what it all means.I think Amazon realized that you need bricks and mortar to sell groceries.
I remember when Winn Dixie was enlarging 20,000 sq ft stores to get a deli in.We had pretty good fried chicken if you came on game day right before lunch, we did donuts pretty well and we could proof and bake frozen french bread, beyond that...

I think Publix owns approximately 300 store locations including the retail centers they anchor. I would not be surprised if Publix moves toward owning most store locations.
That's interesting, I live in Easley and I really started paying attention when PECO bought the Centre Point Publix where we shop. When I talk to those guys they compare WD/Bilo to something very close to Sears/ Kmart, just not as far down that road.
I wonder if the Daniel Island Publix will feature a dine-in area, like the new Publixes in North Carolina do.
