Question One more question...re: Hanahan

What is Hanahan like? Family oriented? Schools? DH has been finding homes in that area he likes and it seems close to the naval base where he'd be working. Is it too close to or part of N. Charleston? Sorry for all the questions today! We can't wait to visit next week and see someof these places for ourselves! Thanks again!

i was about to ask the same question. well be here in san diego for at least another year, but i cant help but look around and get excited haha! i like hanahan because its a bit smaller than goose creek or summerville and it seems closer to downtown and the ocean, if not by much. i like the reserve and tanner plantation. otranto has nice houses too. i dunno, thats all the subdivisions that ive really come across online. im sure there are tons more though. does anybody have an opinion on those subdivisions? id love to hear it. btw- i heard on the news about the crazy weather all you guys are getting, i hope everyone is safe! tornadoes scare the crap outta me

Otranto is nice, that's where I was raised and my dad still lives there. lol You may also want to look in Dominion Hills because it's closer to the schools.

The weather was crazy tonight. It's settled down now. Looks like possibly a few tornado's touched down. We'll find out more tomorrow during the daylight.

My husband really liked Otranto. Is it a more industrial area? In my experience that's what places near bases are like. Is it a good family area? (ie:no "adult" stores or motels).

We live in Eagle Landing subdivision, which is connected to Otranto. One thing I love this neighborhood is the gators and turtles...

No it's not industrial. There is two ways out of the neighborhood, the main Otranto entrance and the Eagle Landing (Subdivision) entrance. You will have restaurants, the mall and other shopping right at the entrance to Eagle Landing. You will also be close to the interstate and Trident Hospital in only a few miles away. There's also Wannamaker Park close by that has trails and a water park in it.

Where Otranto is located people question that it's even Hanahan because it's not near the town of Hanahan. The subdivision is very safe in my opinion. My family has lived there since 1976 and we've never had any problems.

If you are wanting to be closer to the schools look in Dominion Hills. The homes there are like the ones you find in Otranto. If you are wanting a new home look in Tanner Plantation but make sure you ask what schools the children will go to. Some subdivisions go to Goose Creek high and some go to Hanahan. Hanahan is the better school system.

I am looking to relocate in the Otranto area to be near my grandchildren. I am currently in NJ. What is available for recreation & for meeting young seniors? Also, can anybody tell me about renting an apartment in the area for short term. (3 to 6 month)
