Our family is moving to the summerville or goose creek area this summer.
We have a 2 year old that has high functioning down syndrome and are looking for a great school for him to attend. I know it is kind of early still but we want to buy a home there and put down roots.
Does anyone know any information on the special ed classes that are offered in summerville or goose creek?
Are there any schools that you would recommend?
Thanks!
Ann

Hi Ann,
You are not starting to early with your research! I would recommend getting in touch with Sharon Puckett of the Dorchester District 2 system. This is the public system in Summerville and Goose Creek area (Parts of Goose Creek rather). Other families I have helped who have special needs children have been assisted by her in determining which school has the best programs for their child. Her e-mail is
spuckett@dorchester2.k12.sc.us
She should be able to start pointing you in the right direction.
Let us know as other questions arise!
Sincerely,
Foster Smith

My sister's son is autistic and he goes to Goose Creek Primary. They have done so much for him. He has started to come out of his "shell". Here is the website and if you click on school report card you will see it's rated "excellent".
