Question Summer camps/activities for teens

My fiance' is trying to locate summer camps or organizations offering summer activities for his son to attend this summer. His son is 15 and his recently moved in with him. He is very shy and needs to meet new friends and be a part of something positive. My fiance has already checked with the school that his son attends, and didn't come up with much.

They live in Moncks Corner.

Additionally, I am trying to find employment in the area so that I can relocate. I have worked in the higher education arena in admissions and also in counseling for the past 7 years. I have a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling. I have been looking for the past 4 months and have been unable to find a job. Has anyone else out there had such a hard time finding employment in the area? I was beginning to wonder if it is because I do not actually live there now.

Any responses would be greatly appreciated!

As for camps, try the Citadel...they offer basketball, baseball, and soccer camps. Also, Clemson Extension Agency offers 4-H summer camps such as the one at Camp Bob Cooper up in Summerton, which my son used to attend every summer growing up. I don't know what the age limits are. At 15, your friend's son might be interested in being more of a junior counselor than a camper unless its a sports camp.

I teach in CCSD and do not know of any guidance positions open. Be sure to use the empoyment pages on the Berkley, Dorchester, and Charleston County School District websites to see what's posted. These are updated every week. Good luck!

I was recently on the Charleston County School District website and saw several guidance positions posted for the 2008-09 school year. I know they are actively hiring at this time....may want to check it out! Good Luck.
