Just out of curiosity -- does Boeing pay Taxes to the county and City of North Chas ?? Or did they give them Tax Abatements to get them to choose to build here ?? Their Taxes should offset some of the Residential Taxes.
I know Boeing spreads a little money around with Neighborhood Grants and Arts Funding......but at some point you have to start paying for Gubmint Services.

They pay “fees in lieu of taxes” whatever that means.
Yes. The current setup is stupid. A huge factory complex, plus airport, plus Dorchester cut through is terrible. It takes 15 minutes to make a left turn onto 526 from the airport. It’s absolutely retarded.
The other issue is International backs up in the afternoons with people trying to turn on Michaux to get to Dorchester. The perfect storm is an accident at the intersection.

The Assessor's couldn't begin to guess at an Assessed Value, and Boeing's Legal Dept would have appealed it down to nothing anyway. So they pay an agreed-to flat fee for municipal services. They probably have their own Fire Brigade, and their own Security Force too.
The next questions should be how much ?? And to whom ??

Boeing does have its own fire and security. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, I just don’t know how much they’re actually paying. Even if they paid nothing, their resulting economic impact alone pays for itself in spades.
Yeah, they are good citizens, and they do a lot of good for our area. My neighborhood is full of Boeing Managers, all nice folks. At some point in time though, the company should start paying a fair tax -- they're not the only ratable and they shouldn't get a lifetime free pass. Especially if they're ripping up roads for their own convenience.
As a side note -- I was told the entire roof of the big Assembly Building is made up of Solar Panels. BA pays nothing to SCEG, and may actually profit from the Power they sell back to the Grid.

Also note the two giant factory buildings next to the final assembly building have no solar panels at all, despite having more surface area. If you notice, essentially no large businesses are using solar panels unless it’s given to them for free or heavily subsidized.
