They should start with eliminating the confusing assortment of general merchandise and the uninspiring selection of well, just about everything.

Amazing architecture of those buildings, though.

Ironically the architecture is part of the problem. They found the stores are just too big, and the way they've assorted their merchandise makes the store feel empty and open. One of the plans for Lidl 2.0 is smaller stores.

As for as the selection, I guess they'll figure it out. Theyre taking shots at Aldi and Trader Joes, so they need to do whatever they're doing imo, because it's working.

Lidl still has an opportunity to hit it out of the park. If they would reset their stores to be more like Trader Joe's and less of an open-air flea market, that would be a start.

There's 100 examples of it being done right for them to copy. There's Wegman's and there's Trader Joe's and the new Lowe's Foods. Destination grocery stores with a unique assortment is not hard.

Now if only Summerville had both of these stores, I would move in a heartbeat! I love Wegman's!! I guess I would have to plan monthly trips to the Raleigh area !

I agree! Wegman's is supposedly opening several locations in the Raleigh/Cary area. We should organize a monthly caravan!
