According to a newspaper article in 2005, Cane Bay Plantation is a 2000 acre parcel with a planned 5000 homes. The nearby Parks development is planned for 13,000 homes on 4500 acres. A "Fact Sheet" that I have seen lists Cane Bay as being 4300+ acres with 10,000 homes. A 2006 newspaper article lists the size of Cane Bay to be 10,000 homes. The 10,000 figure seems to be the closest estimate at this time. That 10,000 figure would include Del Webb and other communities not yet started.

With regards to Madmal0204 experience with First Coast Homes, I would suggest that they have their Realtor contact the builder to see what is causing the delay. A builder is dependent on the good will of Realtors and I would think that an inquiry from one would go far in getting an issue/repair resolved. The type of repair that needs to be made was not mentioned, so it is difficult for me to provide guidance in how to handle the matter. You did not mentioned whether you had an inspection on the home prior to closing. If so, the potential for a repair of a particular or a defective item may have been discovered prior to closing. I have sold many Centex homes and have personally found that they have been very good in following up with building issues.

Joe makes a good point, use your Realtor that helped you purchase the home.
(You did use one right? It's free to you and they provide support at times just like this.)

Couldn't resist throwing that "All in" bait...

Jim and Joe-

Thanks for the advice. I am actually a licensed SC realtor who is in inactive status, so I've got that covered. I've left messages with the owner of the company, had other realtor friends who sit on site for FC make calls, etc. We did have an inspection, but this problem arose afterward while still under builder's warranty. A window was improperly installed and after a big rain we had leaking around it. They fixed the leak, but the drywall repair and repainting need to be done...it's going to need to have the drywall cut out and replaced. It's not a life or death repair, but it still pisses me off. They know I'm an agent, they just don't care. Like I said, I'm not the only person in my 'hood with a problem with them.

I think we all can understand your frustration. I have found most "tract builders' in the area will do their best to resolve any issues under a builder's warranty. In my personal opinion, in this relatively slow market, a builder should be able to correct any warranty issued rather quickly. Have you considered contacting the First Coast Home President Jeremy Graves directly ? I would think that if there is a glitch in their operations that he would want to know about it.

Default Real Restaurants?

I want to go back to the post that said there would be TWO UPSCALE RESTAURANTS near Cane Bay,,, in Berkeley County???
I have been sick,,,,did I miss something? Did they repeal the archaic Blue Laws that keep everything but fast food out while I was laid up?

I will be thankful for Harris Teeter and it's salad bar.
Now if we could get a CompUSA,,,,

Creeker, there are two CONFIRMED "family" restaurants near Carnes Crossroads. Now rumor wise, I have heard Olive Garden and a "japanese"...

Where the new bowling alley / movie theatre on HWY 176 is going will be a sports bar with yet another food establishment...

Walgreens is also penciled in and two banks, SCFCU and another...

Speaking of leaky windows, I recently saw something on how builders cut corners on windows and what to look for. They also recommended to have an actual inspector do phase inspections. IF the builder does not allow phase inspectors then that is a big red flag. I guess this can be a little costly paying an inspector at each phase, but it would be peace of mind for me.

Hey Pokrplr, we are signing our contract today and going to FedEx it this afternoon. We are buying the Bonham in Sweetwater. We saw a Sanford when we were there 2 weekends ago and it is beautiful. It is just to much of a house for my wife and I.

We looked at a Timmerman being built in Sweetwater a couple of weeks ago. It was beautiful! Unfortunately, we couldn't wait for one to be built, but did just happen to find the same plan in Chandlers Creek section of Bridges!
